The first meeting for Clinical Hypnotherapy, will be an Initial Consultation.  This is held at Clare’s home, in her lounge, over a cup of tea/coffee, to put you at your ease.  This lasts for up to one hour and is a chance for Clare or yourself, to decide if this Therapy feels right for you.

Firstly Clare gathers some information about you and fills in a form. Then she will explain how the brain/mind works, especially in relation to the issue(s) which you have come with. This often involves talking about why we are feeling the way we do.


She will explain the importance of good REM (rapid eye movement) sleep in order to empty our (metaphorical) ‘Stress Bucket’.  Most people find this extremely interesting and enlightening, and it can really help you to understand why you are suffering. This very positive Therapy helps with sleeping problems and all the symptoms of anxiety and depression, amongst many other issues.


Clare will also ask you what your goals are and what you hope to achieve through Hypnotherapy. She will then tell you how many sessions you will probably need so you know what to expect. Together you will then be able to come up with a care plan.  Please feel free to ask Clare as many questions as you wish. By having an understanding of how Hypnotherapy works, you will gain a lot more from it.


Clare will give you a free Relaxation CD to take home and ask that you listen to this at least once a day, preferably at bedtime.  This will help you to get used to her voice and what it feels like to become deeply and very pleasantly relaxed and go into a natural Trance - we all fall into a Trance just before we fall asleep. The CD will also help you learn to sleep better. Trance is a very pleasant safe state, that we all go into many times a day such as daydreaming, being on ‘automatic pilot’, perhaps when watching TV or reading a book. In Trance, Clare will talk to your Subconscious Mind while your Conscious Mind often drifts off to another lovely place. You are in control at all times and nothing takes place which you are not comfortable with.

   

All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis – wherein, you allow this lovely feeling to happen naturally and easily whilst listening to Clare’s voice guiding you with gentle music in the background. Many people say they don’t want to return to full wakefulness at the end of the session, because it feels so very nice.


The following week is when the couch sessions start and the Hypnotherapy commences. From then on she will see you at weekly intervals for the 50 to 60 minute appointments.
